I hope that both you and your students are off to a great start this school year. I wanted to take a few minutes and
say hello and fill you in on a few things. Over the next few weeks I am going to be going from home to home trying to
meet the students but, to also partner with you in raising a generation to reflect the image of Christ. It's hard to
picture it right now but, your student in a very short time will be making decisions that influence the country and
some even the world. So let's ensure a bright future for our students but also our nation by investing into them.
Parents, first I want to offer you some hope. I constantly hear from parents "I feel like they don't want me
in their life" or something along the lines of "they don't listen to anything they say" or even "they just think I'm old and out of touch." The good news, however, is that according to USA Today the majority of students identify their parents as the biggest influence in their life. For many of you that is going to be a startling concept... My kid actually listens to me? They want my input? They care about what I have to say? The answer to all of those
questions is "Yes!" They absolutely do, consider what scripture says;
Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it."
Even that verse confirms that during the adolescent years the parents can and should be molding the lives of their children. So lets work together to reach this generation. If there's something you're trying to reinforce in the life of your student at home, let me know so I can help reinforce it in the life of the student at church also. Our partnering also allows us to have free communication about every area of youth ministry! It opens a door for you to share criticism and concern but also encouragement as well as an opportunity to strengthen the ministry.
On a concluding note I would like to add;
"This is going to be the best year the youth ministry has ever seen"
What do I mean by that? Well I'm glad you asked... I mean God is going to touch hearts, transform lives, students are going to be excited to be the church instead of be excited to go to church, students are going to be equipped to impact their schools and communities, and students are going to take the Church to their friends instead of just bringing their friends to church. And the great part is, That's just where God is starting I look forward to ministering along side of you in the days to come.
