Adventure Guides

An Adventure Opportunity of a Lifetime

Are You: Dependable? Resourceful? Patient?

Have You: Ever wanted to be a great coach? Desired to be a part of something bigger than yourself? Longed to see God do things in others that only He can do?

Can You: Be bold and courageous? Pat a guy on the back? Get in his face?

Do You: Have what it takes to lead a few good men?

We are going on The Great Adventure and we are looking for Adventure Guides. Guides will lead the weekly discussion during the 30 minute small group time, and there is no homework involved. Guides can build their own group (4 to 6 guys) or we?ll assign you a crew the first morning. No whiners. No lazy people need apply. Will you step up?

There Are Two ways to Be an Adventure Guide:

  • Recruit your own guys, pull together 4 to 6 guys to go through The Great Adventure together.
  • We can assign you a crew the first morning.

Adventure Guide Facts:

  • Who: Anyone with desire and skill can be an Adventure Guide, just review the Essentials below.
  • What: Guides will lead the weekly discussion during the 30 minute small group time. This is a no home work assignment.
  • When: 6 am Friday morning is best practice. See Extra Gear below for alternatives.
  • Where: Mt Rachel Baptist Church. See Extra Gear below for alternatives.
  • How: Guides will use the 3 or 4 questions located at the end of each lesson for group discussion.
  • Why: To partner with a band of brothers, a Group of Noble Warriors for The Great Adventure.

Essential Gear and Skills for Guides:

  • Every man participates, no one dominates. - Guides make sure there is balance in discussion.
  • Guides talk less than the rest. Guides know that group members learn more by answering questions than listening to them talk.
  • Guides know their roll is to facilitate discussion. Guides should not re-teach the lesson, add commentary or assign additional homework.
  • Guides know when to ask for help. If a group member is dealing with an issue that is beyond their skill set (divorce, addiction etc.) Guides ask for outside help.

Extra Gear:

Group Times -- We think best practice is having your group meet at 6 am Friday mornings, but for some guys that is not an option. Below are three alternatives.

  • 8:00am - Saturday mornings at Mt Rachel Baptist Church
  • Have your group meet at another location at a regular time. Mornings seem to be best but a lunch or an evening can work. Most important is to be consistent with the time.
  • Meet one on one at another time and location. Again, consistency with meeting time is important.
